De-magnetization of components after magnetic particle inspection or machining.
Industrial demagnetizing equipment for residual magnetism control.
Overview
After magnetic particle inspection (or other processes that magnetize ferromagnetic materials), residual magnetism can remain in the part. Excessive residual field can interfere with subsequent welding, machining, instrumentation, or service performance. De-magnetization (demagnetization) reduces residual magnetism to acceptable levels specified by the client or applicable standard.
When It Is Needed
- Post-MT inspection of welds, shafts, gears, and structural components
- Parts destined for welding or further fabrication
- Components where residual magnetism could attract debris or affect sensors
- Client or code requirements for maximum residual field strength
Our Service
Cave Inspection Ltd. performs demagnetization using appropriate techniques for the size and geometry of the item. Residual field is verified so that acceptance criteria are met before the part is released. We coordinate demagnetization with the associated MT inspection to keep workflow efficient.
