Ferrite Testing
Ferrite testing is a non-destructive testing method that provides data to determine the delta-ferrite in stainless steel, austenitic stainless steel and duplex materials. Ferrite testing can be used on castings, tanks, pressure vessels, stainless steel piping, and mechanical components. The results provide information to assess material corrosion susceptibility, service suitability and mechanical properties.
Benefits of Ferrite testing
Compatible with many different materials.
Immediate results
Cost effective
Light weight an easily transportable.
Verifies if corrosion resistant properties are still effective.
Limitations
Material inspected requires a minimum thickness and specimen size.
Not recommended for material where temperature exceeds 125 degrees Fahrenheit
Surface Preparation is very important to test accuracy
